Last Saturday, the election of Miss Angola-Spain 20226 took place in a hotel in Madrid in its 1st edition, an event attended by about 200 people, mostly members of the Angolan community in Madrid.
The young Juice Tavares was chosen to carry this title around the world this year, in a very close election with a decision that was “very difficult to make,” according to the jury’s words. The contest aimed to choose the Angolan resident in Spain whose qualities marked her as the ideal representative of the African country.
The candidate Narcília Cristóvão was named 1st Lady of Honor, taking the position of 2nd Lady Rebeca Américo. Likewise, Esperança Kanhongo was chosen as Miss Congeniality and Arleth Susso as Miss Photogenic.

In total, there were 8 candidates who participated in this endearing event. Apart from those already mentioned, great recognition is deserved for those chosen for the pageant: Maartje Herrera, Eliana Amaro and Isaura Gando.
The ambassador of Angola, Balbina Malheiros Dias da Silva, was the host of the event, who was accompanied at all times by the staff of the Embassy and her beautiful granddaughter, Balbina Kayame Teles. The ambassador of Ghana, Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe. was also present.

The jury was composed of Eliane de Oliveira, executive director of AMEJ (African Media Entertainment) and vice president of the Angola-Spain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNIAE); Salvador Crisbal, a prominent figure in the fashion world and Mister Africa 2024, and the painter Francisca Blázquez.

The attending public was very participative and encouraged the candidates for Miss Angola-Spain at all times during their speeches, even cheering for their favorites. Members of the Angolan community and representatives from the embassies of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Pakistan gathered at the event.
