The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, met today at her Department’s headquarters with the president of the Spanish Atlantic Association, Ana Botella Gómez, and members of its board of directors. During this meeting, both parties agreed to strengthen their collaboration with the aim of increasing awareness in Spanish society about Spain’s participation in NATO and its relevance for the security and protection of citizens.
Robles emphasized the complex current geopolitical context, highlighting Spain’s commitment as a responsible partner within the Atlantic Alliance, always operating within the frameworks of international law. The minister thanked the association for its work in raising awareness about the challenges of international security, emphasizing the vital importance of the link between Europe and North America for achieving global stability.
The Spanish Atlantic Association, founded in 1982, is dedicated to promoting knowledge and reflection on transatlantic relations and Euro-Atlantic security. This private, non-partisan, and non-profit organization is part of the ‘Atlantic Treaty Association’, an international network that fosters a culture of defense and strategic dialogue, contributing to the understanding of NATO in allied societies.
