General Luis Carlos Córdoba Avendaño took office last Friday as the Defense and Air Attaché of the Colombian Embassy in the Kingdom of Spain, according to this diplomatic mission’s publication on its Instagram account.

General Córdoba had been the commander of the Colombian Aerospace Force since 2022.

Originally from Buga, in the Valle del Cauca, he graduated as a pilot officer from the Military Aviation School in 1989 and as an aeronautical administrator from the Military Aeronautical Institute in 2001.

He has a specialization in Management from the Externado University of Colombia; a master’s in Strategic Studies, specialized in Counterterrorism, from the National Defense University in Washington; and another master’s in National Security and Defense from the Superior War School.

During his years of service in the Colombian Air Force, he has successively been the manager of the Air Service to National Territories-Satena; deputy general director of the Civil Aeronautics; commander of the Military Air Transport Command-CATAM; commander of the Air Combat Command No. 6 and chief of staff of the Air Combat Command No. 1.

As a military pilot, he has accumulated nearly 6,000 flight hours. Among his most important recognitions and distinctions are the military medals for Valor, distinguished services in Public Order, Silver Cross in special operations, Faith in the Cause of the Colombian Air Force, and the Order of Boyacá.
