The German Embassy in Spain has wanted to express on its social media its support for the celebration of LGTB Pride “with the best views: those that defend visibility, diversity, equality, and the fight against discrimination.”
“We want to live in a society where all people can be themselves,” they state from the Embassy, “regardless of their origin, gender, disability, religion, age, or sexual identity.”
They also emphasize that “Article 2 of our Federal Law guarantees all people the right to free development of personality, and Article 1 protects the dignity of each individual. Democracy is nourished by mutual understanding and tolerance!”.
“The protection of queer people is not just a social attitude, but an obligation of our rule of law. Diversity makes our society fairer, more open, and more democratic. That is why we defend today, and every day, respect, self-determination, and equal rights for all. Love whom you want. Live as you want,” they affirm from the diplomatic headquarters.
The diplomatic legation flies the rainbow flag at its official headquarters on Madrid’s Paseo de la Castellana and organizes events during these dates to reaffirm its commitment to LGTBIQ+ rights.
