“On behalf of the United States Embassy in Spain,” continues the American ambassador, “I convey our solidarity and sorrow for the people and communities affected, especially to those who have had to leave their homes or have suffered losses as a result of the flames. Our deepest recognition to the firefighters, the Military Emergency Unit, Civil Protection, the security forces, health services, volunteers, and all the professionals who work tirelessly to protect lives and combat the fire.”
These words have been written by Ambassador Benjamín León Jr. (81 years old) at a truly symbolic and significant moment for him and his wife, Mavileibys Campa Felipe (38 years old), as they are soon to become parents.
