In June, the tourism sector in Spain experienced notable growth, with an increase of 87,830 affiliates, reaching a total of more than 3 million workers, according to data from Turespaña.

This increase represents a 3% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the context of the Spanish labor market, where growth was 2.8% year-on-year, tourism employment constitutes 13.7% of the total affiliates.

The hospitality sector showed a significant increase of 49,825 affiliates, with 19,418 in accommodation services and 30,407 in food and beverage services. However, travel agencies saw a decrease of 1,719 workers, a figure that does not reflect a real decline due to changes in the classification of activities under the CNAE.

In terms of salaried workers, who represent 83.1% of the sector, there was an increase of 3.2% compared to the previous year. Self-employment also grew, although at a slower pace of 1.8%. The Valencian Community stood out as the region with the largest increase in tourism employment, with 9,556 more affiliates, which corresponds to a growth of 4.3%.
