Last Wednesday, April 22, the Embassy of Chile held a meeting with the Spanish company Skyboria, attended by the Chargé d’Affaires, Minister Counselor Francisco Devia, along with defense attachés and representatives of Carabineros de Chile.
According to the Chilean Embassy’s report on its Instagram account, during the meeting, the company presented its innovative dual-use drone (civil and military), designed for missions such as firefighting and heavy cargo transport.
One of the key points was the possible establishment of Skyboria in Chile, including a local production plant. This advancement would position the country as a regional leader in high-performance drone technology, boosting the national industry and strengthening key areas such as defense, security, and emergency management.
Skyboria S.L. is a Spanish technology company specialized in the design and manufacture of large-capacity autonomous drones primarily intended for forest fire extinguishing and emergency tasks.
Its flagship technology allows drones to operate at night, a critical period when traditional aerial means (helicopters and planes) cannot fly for safety reasons, but where fires often start or spread.
Its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are designed to be as effective as a helicopter in terms of payload and precision, but with greater autonomy and operational safety.
Recently, the company has announced a strategic commitment to South America, and with this meeting, the Embassy of Chile aims to enhance plans to establish a drone factory in Chile by the end of 2027.
