The Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego, has finalized the participation of the Government of Spain in an international dialogue on the challenges of digitalization, in collaboration with UNICEF. This meeting, scheduled for June 19, 2026, will also include representatives from China, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.

The invitation was formalized by Amakobe Sande, UNICEF representative in China, during a meeting that took place in Beijing, as part of Minister Rego’s official visit. The Minister of Youth and Childhood emphasized that Spain’s inclusion in this international dialogue reflects the global community’s interest in the Spanish Government’s initiatives to create safer digital environments, especially for children.

During the meeting, both leaders agreed on the importance of addressing digital transformation as a crucial challenge of the 21st century. Rego emphasized that Spanish legislation on child protection in digital environments is in process in Congress, and expressed her hope that international recognition of these efforts will contribute to its approval with broad consensus. Additionally, the minister announced a memorandum with the International Cooperation Center for Language Teaching of China, which will promote youth exchange between both countries, thereby strengthening intercultural cooperation.
