“In 2025 we have maintained the positive trend in bilateral trade with Spain. This is a motivating evolution that reflects the growing strength of our economic ties,” said the Ambassador of Slovenia, Tadej Rupel, at the reception held on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Central European country last week.

With the interpretation  of the anthems of Slovenia, Spain, and Europe, the celebration began, led by six members of the Slovenian Army Orchestra. “This approach,” said the ambassador, “is the result of joint work, constant dialogue, and a shared vision on numerous challenges and opportunities both within and outside the European Union. We have maintained an exceptional dynamic of mutual contacts and visits, among which I would like to highlight the successful visit of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, the esteemed Nataša Pirc Musar, last January, as well as the numerous visits from various delegations that have constituted a clear signal of the closeness between our countries and the shared commitment to continue deepening our bilateral relations at all levels and in all areas.”

The Slovenian ambassador also expressed his satisfaction by stating that “in 2025 we have maintained the positive trend in bilateral trade. This is a motivating evolution that reflects the growing strength of our economic ties. At the same time, I am convinced that there is still significant potential for improvement and expansion of our economic and commercial cooperation for the mutual benefit of our countries and societies. To advance this goal, it will also be essential to continue improving the connectivity between our two countries, thus facilitating contacts between our businesses, institutions, and citizens and creating new opportunities for an even more dynamic and fluid exchange.”

Finally, Tadej Rupel wanted to thank and highlight the role played by the honorary consuls. “Their contribution is fundamental to the excellent relations between Slovenia and Spain and to providing support and protection to our citizens when they encounter difficulties,” he noted.

The event concluded with a toast from the Slovenian ambassador, the Slovenians, for their 35 years of independence and for more than three decades of friendship between Slovenia and Spain.
