On June 17, 2026, the Secretary of State for Defense, Amparo Valcarce, presided over the reception of a new NH-90 helicopter for the Army at the headquarters of Airbus Helicopters Spain. This helicopter is part of one of the most relevant modernization projects of the Spanish Armed Forces, demonstrating the country’s commitment to improving its defensive capabilities.
During the event, Valcarce emphasized that the incorporation of the NH-90 into the Armed Forces contributes to the creation of a “safer, more autonomous, and better prepared” Spain to face future challenges. The event was attended by important civil and military authorities, including admirals and directors of Airbus, who signed the delivery certificate of the new helicopter.
The arrival of the NH-90 is part of the National Helicopter Plan 2025, which foresees the acquisition of a total of 100 helicopters with an investment exceeding 4.2 billion euros. This program not only focuses on the modernization of military equipment but also promotes industrial and technological development in Spain, generating qualified employment and strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty.
