Located in León, the UME Drone Unit (UDRUME) has become a model of modernization within the Armed Forces, one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defense. Currently, the unit has about 40 military personnel, but this number is expected to double before the end of the year, reaching a total of 85 personnel.

The flexibility to operate in aerial, terrestrial, and aquatic environments is the main strength of the UDRUME, which has proven to be crucial in various interventions, from combating fires to responding to emergencies in adverse weather conditions, such as heavy snowfall. At the UDRUME headquarters, there are five ground drones and eight aquatic and aerial drones, totaling 73 available drones that position the Military Emergency Unit at the forefront of drone technology use.

During a recent visit, the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, highlighted the adaptability of the UME and its commitment to modernization. In a special acknowledgment, she also praised the personnel deployed in Venezuela, emphasizing their professionalism and dedication in difficult situations. Robles stressed that the UME is prepared to face the challenges of the future, especially given the increasing frequency of emergencies, as evidenced last summer with the wildfires.
