The Republic of Honduras was recognized in a new edition of the Diplomacy Awards, organized by LG Spain together with the Academy of Diplomacy, for its initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change.

The recognition was awarded to the country for the launch of the first national carbon capture project under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), an initiative that includes the incorporation of one thousand hectares of commercial forest plantations into the Honduran Pico Bonito National Park, the recovery of 600 hectares of micro-watersheds, and the implementation of 400 agroforestry plots.

Representing Honduras was Ambassador Marlon Brevé, who received the award during the ceremony held at the LG Spain headquarters in Madrid, alongside diplomatic representatives from Georgia and North Macedonia, countries also distinguished for their environmental actions.

The actions promoted by Honduras will directly contribute to the protection of ecosystems, carbon capture, and the sustainable development of local communities, benefiting around 300 Honduran families.

With this international recognition, Honduras reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable initiatives that strengthen climate action and international cooperation.
