The ambassador of Serbia, Irena Sarac, organized a cocktail last Tuesday at the Club Financiero Génova in Madrid for her Austrian counterpart Enno Drofenik, on the occasion of his upcoming farewell from his diplomatic mission in Spain.
A large number of colleagues of the Austrian ambassador attended the event, which shows the friendly, endearing, and excellent role that Enno Drofenik leaves after these four years he has served as head of the Austrian Embassy in Spain.
“Thank you all for coming,” Ambassador Drofenik thanked. “I am going to miss Madrid, I am going to miss my friend here (referring to his Serbian colleague, Irena Sarac), but I am very excited to go to Serbia, to Belgrade. For us, Serbia is almost like a neighboring country, with a large number of Serbs living in Austria.”
Enno Drofenik wanted to thank the attendees once again for their presence, and especially the Serbian ambassador for organizing the farewell event. “As we know, Serbs are famous for their general hospitality, and this has been proven once again this afternoon here. So thank you very much, Irena, for organizing all this,” said the Austrian ambassador, while he and his counterparts toasted to the diplomatic future of an Austrian ambassador who will always be remembered for his kindness, work, and good performance at the head of his diplomatic legation.
The next Austrian ambassador in Belgrade has been a diplomat since 1997 and prior to his posting in Spain was ambassador in Thailand (2013 to 2017) and head of the Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, between 2003 and 2006 he worked for the United Nations in New York.
