The Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid participates in Veranos de la Villa, the summer festival of the Madrid City Council, presenting for the first time in Spain Taranta Gitana, the show by the Orchestra Popolare Italiana with the soloists of Gipsy Kings Legend by Tony Cortés – Guest: Amalia.
The event is scheduled for July 21 at 10 PM in the Patio of the Centro Cultural contemporáneo CondeDuque (calle Conde Duque, 9). On stage, the energy of Ambrogio Sparagna and the Orchestra Popolare Italiana, along with the dancers directed by Francesca Trenta, will merge with the rhythms and melodies of the gypsy rumba in a great meeting between musical and choreographic traditions of the Mediterranean. More information and tickets at this link.
The project will be preceded on July 20 at the headquarters of the Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid by a dance workshop divided into three shifts, aimed at dancers from Madrid dance schools, invited to participate for free in a theoretical-practical journey dedicated to the different forms of Italian tarantella (pizzicas, tammurriatas, and ballarellas). The workshop will be taught by Francesca Trenta, ethnocoreographer and director of the dance company of the Orchestra Popolare Italiana.
The training process will culminate in a participatory dance show, in which the involved dancers will perform alongside the artists of the production, contributing to the creation of a shared and choral scenic dimension.
