The future of international cooperation: a look from Ibero-America

El futuro de la cooperación internacional: una mirada desde Iberoamérica

Next Monday, July 20 at 6:30 PM, Casa América presents in its Sala Embajadores the round table The future of international cooperation: a perspective from Ibero-America. Admission by invitation.

In an international context marked by the transformation of the multilateral system, the redefinition of development priorities, the climate emergency, the digital transition, and new geopolitical tensions, international cooperation faces the challenge of rethinking its instruments, alliances, and ways of acting.

The session on the future of international cooperation: a perspective from Ibero-America proposes a strategic reflection on the place that Ibero-American cooperation occupies in this new paradigm. The meeting will bring together different institutional, multilateral, and regional perspectives to analyze how Ibero-America can project a more strategic, innovative, and results-oriented cooperation, supported by the accumulated experience of more than three decades and capable of articulating shared agendas among Ibero-American countries, international organizations, development banks, and actors in the cooperation ecosystem.

The session will focus on the differential value of the Ibero-American space, its capacity to generate consensus, promote technical cooperation, facilitate knowledge exchange, foster triangular alliances, and provide tailored responses to current challenges at a time when cooperation is being questioned at the international level.

After welcoming remarks from León de la Torre Krais, General Director of Casa de América, and Andrés Allamand, Ibero-American Secretary General (SEGIB), Antón Leis, Director of AECID, will speak at the event, and Ruy Pereira, RC of Brazil; Olaya Dotel, RC of the Dominican Republic; Pilar Garrido, Director of Development Cooperation OECD, and Alicia Montalvo, Manager of Climate Action and Positive Biodiversity of CAF will participate in the dialogue table. Lorena Larios, Secretary of Cooperation of SEGIB will moderate.
