This morning, at 12 noon, the Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid and the Wild Romania Association, under the auspices of the Romanian Embassy, present the photographic exhibition Wild Delta, signed by the artist Dan Dinu, which can be visited at the institute’s headquarters until August 28.
On this occasion, Valentina Florea (biologist) will give a presentation on the Danube Delta, including general information about its geographical location, age, and biodiversity, and will subsequently lead an interactive workshop with the audience. Inaugurated during the LYNX Festival in Brașov, the exhibition is now presented in Spain, marking the first tour of the project outside Romania.
Following the success of the exhibition and the documentary Rumania Salvaje, photographer Dan Dinu returned to the wild nature of Romania to work on an ambitious project about the Danube Delta. This extensive project, launched in 2022, showcases the beauty and uniqueness of the delta, Romania’s most precious natural treasure.
The exhibition will include the trailer of the documentary Delta Sălbatica (RO, directed by Dan Dinu, 2026), the most popular Romanian film at the 25th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, awarded the Vodafone Hearts prize.
Where the Carpathian Mountains meet the Black Sea, the largest wetland in Europe has formed, a place of legendary biodiversity and countless stories. This is the unique story of this fabulous place, told through the voice of the protagonist that makes it possible: water.
The 30 photographs in the exhibition showcase the unique characteristics of this space in Europe, recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In the words of director Dan Dinu, “my first adventure in the Delta was when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Of course, back then I wasn’t a photographer, but I enjoyed the wild nature of this place immensely, something that has always remained etched in my memory. Much later, I was able to visit this aquatic world with a camera in hand, and it was just as impressive. The magic of the Delta lies in the fact that with each visit you discover a different story. Whether it’s a mysterious morning fog, a flock of hundreds of pelicans fishing, a clam filtering the water, a wildcat swimming through a canal, a concert of frogs, or thousands of waterfowl gathering in the lakes in winter, each moment offers you immense joy if you have the patience to discover it. However, the Delta is not just a place to visit, it is a place to venerate.”
