Spain is one of the Member States of the EU against which the European Commission is taking action for not notifying the measures they have adopted to transpose EU Directives into their national legislation.
The deadline for transposing these Directives has recently expired. The Commission has sent a letter of formal notice to these Member States, granting them a period of two months to respond and complete the transposition of the Directives. If they fail to do so, the Commission may proceed to the next phase and issue a reasoned opinion. The Member States in question have not fully transposed 15 EU directives. The Commission urges them to take immediate action to align their legislation with EU requirements.
In the case of Spain, these are the following Directives:
.- Directive (EU) 2024/1346 establishing rules for the reception of applicants for international protection.
.- Rules to combat strategic lawsuits against public participation (Directive (EU) 2024/1069)
.- Rules to combat serious environmental crimes (Directive (EU) 2024/1203
.- Contribution Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/2811
.- Directive on the specific review of EMIR [Directiva (UE) 2024/2994]
.- Directives restricting certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (three Delegated Directives of the Commission, namely, 2025/1802/EU, 2025/2363/EU and 2025/2364/EU)
.- New rules on equality bodies (Directive (EU) 2024/1499 of the Council and Directive (EU) 2024/1500 of the European Parliament and of the Council).
