Annual Report on Foreign Trade 2025

The agri-food and fishing sector has consolidated itself as the main export engine of the Spanish economy, reaching sales of 78.044 billion euros last year. This represents 20.2% of the total exports of the country. Despite a 5.9% decrease in its trade balance, which stood at 18.324 billion euros, the sector continues to offer the best result in this area.

Agri-food exports grew by 2.9%, surpassing the 0.7% increase recorded in the rest of the economy. This decrease in the trade balance is attributed to a notable increase in imports, which rose by 6%, reaching 59.720 billion euros. This data was published in the Annual Foreign Trade Report 2025 from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, which presents a comprehensive analysis of the magnitudes and indicators of foreign trade in this sector.

The year 2025 was marked by various geopolitical tensions, such as the war between Russia and Ukraine and the increase in tariffs by the United States, which impacted global merchandise trade. Within the sector, the fruit subsector leads exports with 11.918 billion euros, followed by meat with 10.548 billion and vegetables with 9.352 billion. More than two-thirds of exports (67.2%) were destined for the European Union, consolidating the importance of this market for Spanish agri-food.
