The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain has hosted this early week the 3rd Meeting of National Coordinators and Responsible Ibero-American Cooperation. This meeting marks the beginning of negotiations for the final Declaration of the upcoming Ibero-American Summit to be held in Madrid.

During the meeting, the results of the various sectoral ministerial meetings held to date have been reviewed. The contents of the traditional Ibero-American Foreign Ministers’ Breakfast, scheduled for the United Nations Ministerial Week in September in New York, have also been discussed. This event is crucial to strengthen cooperation among Ibero-American countries.

In addition, representatives from the 12 Associated Observer countries of the Ibero-American Summit system have had the opportunity to participate, with the aim of improving the external projection of the Community and fostering collaboration with other regions. The meeting, chaired by the Secretary of State for Ibero-America, Susana Sumelzo, and the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, seeks to generate concrete mandates from Ibero-American leaders that have a direct impact on citizens, continuing the work initiated at the National Coordinators Meeting held in Panama on June 23, where the methodology, content, and structure of the final Declaration were agreed upon, which will focus on generating mandates from heads of state and government aimed at achieving tangible results with a direct impact on Ibero-American citizens.

Finally, this meeting has allowed Ibero-American organizations – Ibero-American Organization of Social Security (OISS), International Youth Organization for Ibero-America (OIJ), and Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) – to present the balance of their actions in the past year.
