This is the last July 20 that I commemorate as Ambassador of Colombia in Spain, after almost four years at the head of this mission. It has been intense years, with great challenges, learnings, and enormous satisfactions, in which we have worked to deepen the historical and strategic relationship between Colombia and Spain and to make this Embassy a true house of open doors.
From the beginning, we wanted to exercise diplomacy close to the citizens, based on permanent dialogue, presence in the territories, culture, the defense of rights, and the construction of agreements capable of positively transforming people’s lives.
On this path, Spain has decisively accompanied our efforts for peacebuilding, has supported the defense of human rights, and has backed dialogue and multilateralism as indispensable instruments for understanding between peoples.
I want to express our deep gratitude to the Spanish State, to the Government of Spain, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, to Spanish cooperation, to the senators and deputies, and to the different political forces that have accompanied us during these years and that have maintained firm support for Colombia and our peace efforts.
