In his inaugural speech of the course ‘Spain in the world’, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, emphasized the relevance of the upcoming Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, considering it the major event of multilateralism in the 21st century.

According to Albares, this event will serve as a meeting point to reaffirm the identity and voice of the Ibero-American community on the global stage, highlighting Spain’s firm commitment in this area.

Albares also participated in a conversation with the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, where they discussed the need for a strong and united Ibero-America. During the discussion, the minister advocated for concrete commitments in key areas such as cooperation, talent mobility, progress in rights, and joint responses to the international challenges facing the region.

In this fourth edition of the course ‘Spain in the world’, which takes place at the International University Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP), experts, academics, and foreign policy officials gather to analyze the transformations of the international order. Among the highlighted topics are the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, the 40th anniversary of Spain’s accession to the European Union, and the situation in the Middle East. This program reaffirms Spain’s commitment to strengthening the Ibero-American space and seeking shared solutions to the main global challenges.
