At sunset on next Tuesday, July 28, thanks to the City Council of Madrid, the traditional Neptune fountain will be illuminated with the colors of the Peruvian flag, red and white, on the occasion of the 205th Anniversary of National Independence. The time will be around 21:42 hours and it will turn off at 1:00 in the morning.

And to celebrate this anniversary, the Embassy of Peru invites you to the celebration of a Thanksgiving Mass at the Church of San Jerónimo el Real in Madrid (calle Moreto, 4) next Tuesday, July 28 at 12:00 hours.

Likewise, organized by the Folkloric Ballet Art and Andean Tradition of Peru, next Saturday, July 25, the Amusement Park will be filled with Peruvian festivities, specifically starting at 17:30 hours, when the Grand Theater of the Amusement Park of Madrid (Casa de Campo, s/n) will host a professional show that will take you through Peru via live music, dance, and an exciting staging. Tickets for all-day access to the Park can be purchased at this link.

Peru’s National Holidays are the most important national celebration of the country, intended to commemorate the proclamation of independence from Spanish rule, made by General José de San Martín on July 28, 1821, in Lima. The central days and official holidays at the national level are July 28 and 29.

Since the beginning of July, houses, businesses, and public institutions are required to display the Peruvian flag on their facades. Gastronomy is also a highlight during these festivities. Families gather to enjoy flagship dishes such as ceviche, anticuchos, lomo saltado, arroz con pato, and traditional desserts, all accompanied by pisco sour or chicha morada.
