The Erasmus+ program of 2026 in Spain will have an investment of 408.84 million euros to promote international mobility and educational cooperation. This amount is managed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) through the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE).

Of this allocation, 376.8 million euros will be allocated to mobility projects, which will allow 163,097 students, teachers, and administrative staff to train abroad. In addition, 32 million euros will be assigned to partnership projects for cooperation, where Spanish organizations will collaborate with their European counterparts to develop ideas and transfer knowledge in the educational field.

Minister Diana Morant highlighted that the Spanish model of Erasmus+ is a success story that combines the internationalization of classrooms with pedagogical transformation. The interest of Spanish institutions in participating is reflected in the 6,907 requested projects, placing Spain as a leader in the European Union in terms of receiving applications for mobility projects, with a total of 4,997 projects selected across all educational sectors.

In the Higher Education sector, key to the Ministry’s action, it is expected to finance a total of 1,374 projects that will facilitate 76,559 mobilities of students and staff in this field, with an investment of 222 million euros, coming from European Union funds and co-financing from the Government of Spain, through the MICIU. Of this total, the MICIU will allocate 69.52 million euros to co-finance aid for higher education students and enhance mobilities with Latin America.

These scholarships prioritize the social dimension: approximately 27% of students in intra-European mobility with fewer opportunities will receive additional aid of 250 euros per month, ensuring that the program is a true engine of equity.

On the other hand, the 2026 call stands out for the strategic value of its 210 partnership projects for cooperation. Endowed with 32 million euros, this action promotes collaborative work among universities, vocational training centers, schools, and adult education institutions in our country with other European entities.

The execution of these projects will allow for the design and application of innovations in priority areas for the European Commission such as digitalization, sustainability, social inclusion of vulnerable groups, and the promotion of STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), with a special focus on attracting female talent.
