The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published a new agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, State Ports, the Port Authority of Vigo, and the Xunta de Galicia. This agreement aims to support the Training Program of the Blue Ports Initiative, with a total economic contribution of 125,440 euros.

The funding will be provided equally by the four signing entities, each contributing 31,360 euros. This investment will allow the continuation of training activities, knowledge exchange, and capacity strengthening that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) develops within the framework of this international initiative. The Blue Ports Initiative seeks to promote the sustainable development of coastal areas by improving the management and operation of fishing ports.

Since its inception in 2022, this collaboration has mobilized more than 333,000 euros in total, which has strengthened the framework of cooperation in favor of sustainability and innovation in fishing ports. The training program is essential to reinforce the technical capacities of fishing ports globally, facilitating the exchange of experiences among professionals and administrations. With this new contribution, Spain reaffirms its commitment to the objectives of the Blue Ports Initiative, consolidating its position as an international benchmark in sustainable port management.
