The recognition of mental health as a fundamental right, strengthening the training of health professionals, and promoting sovereignty in the local production of medicines were the three most notable conclusions of the XVII Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Health, which took place in Madrid last Thursday.
The conference —organized within the framework of the Ibero-American Summit on November 4 and 5, with the support of the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand— recognized the importance of promoting strategies aimed at sovereignty in local production and equitable access to medicines, to ensure inclusive development of society.
During the meeting chaired by Queen Letizia and the Spanish Minister of Health, Mónica García, the importance of consolidating systems that provide agile and efficient responses in terms of prevention against health emergencies in a coordinated manner was also addressed.
