Last Friday, April 24, the ambassador of Paraguay, Justo Apodaca, made an official visit to the Principality of Asturias. The ambassador met with the vice president of the Government of the Principality, Gimena Llamedo, and the tourism councilor of the City Council of Oviedo, Alfredo García Quintana.
In the meetings, according to the Embassy’s communication, the importance of cultural and institutional ties between Paraguay and Asturias was highlighted, as well as the valuable contribution of the Paraguayan community to the development of the region.
Opportunities to strengthen economic and commercial relations were also discussed, especially within the framework of the Mercosur-European Union agreement. The Asturian authorities valued the visit and reaffirmed their interest in continuing to promote bilateral cooperation.
The Paraguayan ambassador was accompanied by the honorary consul in Asturias, Javier Marqués, and the commercial attaché, Natalia Cáceres.
Furthermore, within the framework of this institutional visit, the minister of the Embassy of Paraguay, Doris Román, presented the paper The Guarani and Spanish: five centuries of coexistence, highlighting the harmony and mutual enrichment between both languages throughout the history of Paraguay. A living bond that continues to be one of the fundamental pillars of the country’s cultural identity.
