The Instituto Cultural Rumano celebrates its 20th anniversary with a concert at the RABASF

Concierto 20 aniversario Instituto Cultural Rumano

Under the auspices of the Romanian Embassy, the Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid presents on May 7th at 12:00 PM, in the Auditorium of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes of San Fernando (RABASF), an exceptional concert featuring violinist Alexandru Tomescu and guitarist Dragos Ilie.

Alexandru Tomescu, the first Romanian artist to perform in the Sistine Chapel in the presence of Pope Leo XIV, will play on the famous Stradivarius violin, the work Elder-Voicu (1702), a unique piece from the Patrimonio Nacional de Rumanía, classified as a Treasure.

The program, titled 𝑉𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑠, proposes a suggestive dialogue between violin and guitar, in a sound journey that connects Romania and Spain through great composers such as George Enescu, Ciprian Porumbescu, Béla Bartók and Manuel de Falla.

Thanks to the refined transcription made by Dragos Ilie, this repertoire, situated between the cultured and the popular, acquires a new dimension, marked by the complicity, energy, and expressive richness of both performers.

This concert commemorates two significant milestones: the 20th anniversary of the Instituto Cultural Rumano in Madrid and the 145 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Spain.
