The 16 state museums of the Ministry of Culture are preparing to commemorate International Museum Day, which takes place every May 18, and the 22nd European Night of Museums, which will be held on May 23.

This year, under the slogan ‘Museums uniting a divided world’, the aim is to highlight the importance of these spaces as promoters of respect and coexistence among diverse communities.

The celebration will feature a wide program of activities, including special opening hours, conferences, and free entry days. The museums will offer guided tours, access to uncommon areas, and extraordinary night openings. For example, the National Museum of Decorative Arts has prepared the ‘Inside Out Marathon’, where visitors can learn about the museum’s collection through the eyes of its professionals.

In addition to activities focused on families, which include workshops and self-guided tours, the program will also encompass live arts, such as music, theater, and dance. This year, the museums will offer concerts and performing arts activities, and there will be conferences and round tables addressing historical and social issues, highlighting the transformative role of museums in society. During the European Night of Museums, exceptional openings and special activities are expected to provide visitors with a unique experience as night falls.
