Innovation, social responsibility, excellence, sustainability, transparency, closeness, and commitment are the foundations on which we must develop the Chamber of the future,” said Ángel Asensio after being re-elected president of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid.

The members forming the Plenary of this entity unanimously voted in favor of the re-election of Asensio and the rest of the members of his Executive Committee, for another four-year term, during the session held yesterday, May 14, at the Palace of Santoña.

Ángel Asensio thanked the members of the plenary for their unanimous support, highlighting the collaboration with CEIM, “the employers’ association of Madrid companies with which the Chamber works coordinately in favor of the Madrid business fabric.”

On the other hand, he recalled, during his acceptance speech, the transformation carried out in the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid in recent years to turn it into a financially sustainable institution “at the service of companies, more useful, close, agile, and relevant.”

In this sense, he highlighted the role of the entity as a strategic support for the Madrid business fabric through advising entrepreneurs and SMEs; training, digitalization, internationalization, and arbitration; and business mediation. “All of this,” he stated, “has been achieved thanks to the governing bodies of the Chamber, the management team, and its employees.”

The re-elected president also emphasized the importance of the institutional, regulatory, legal, and fiscal stability that the Community of Madrid offers for having turned it into the first engine of the national economy and an international benchmark: “The Community of Madrid and the City Council of Madrid have managed to create a suitable environment for the development of economic activity.”

“The Chamber of Commerce of Madrid wants to continue being a meeting point between companies, institutions, and society, a space where alliances, consensuses, and opportunities are generated that contribute to the economic and social progress of Madrid. When our companies advance, Madrid advances. And when Madrid advances, we all advance,” concluded Asensio.

The inauguration ceremony of the president of the Madrid Chamber took place at the Palace of Santoña, during a session attended by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; the deputy mayor of the City Council of Madrid, Inmaculada Sanz; the president of the Chamber of Spain, José Luis Bonet; and the president of CEIM Confederación Empresarial de Madrid-CEOE, Miguel Garrido, among other authorities.

Miguel Garrido, president of CEIM, highlighted in a brief intervention that “we share the same vision of the growth that the Madrid business fabric must have: if we work together, Madrid advances. The capital is a benchmark for business dynamism. The Chamber of Madrid is stronger, more modern, and more connected with companies since Ángel Asensio has been its president, standing out in such important sectors as internationalization.”

For his part, José Luis Bonet, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, wished Asensio a fruitful term: “your continuity is excellent news for the business fabric of Madrid and for those of us who believe that the chamber system is a motor for economic growth. The success of this institution is guaranteed for another four years.” He also congratulated the president for his role during his term: “You have done extraordinary work beyond this entity, you have become a benchmark for the entire chamber system.”

Inmaculada Sanz, deputy mayor of Madrid, emphasized that “the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid is a crucial institution for our city and region,” highlighting “the great work you have been doing” under Asensio’s presidency, and congratulated the increase in the internationalization of Madrid companies,” assuring them that “the Chamber will not leave them alone: it will advise and accompany them.”

To conclude the event, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, emphasized that “the representatives of Madrid companies trust you again, the Chamber represents the people who strive, and this is something that represents the people of Madrid. We have many measures in place, dual training, a place for foreign investment, and continuing to lead the creation of companies and jobs. Together we have become the first economy in Spain and the trendiest region on the continent.”

The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid advises more than 5,000 entrepreneurs and 35,000 companies each year; promotes innovation and digitalization processes in more than 3,000 companies; trains professionals for over 30 years, with more than 200,000 students; provides support to over 50,000 companies in their international expansion processes; helps foster business relationships through the Club Cámara Madrid and understanding between companies with the Arbitration Court and the Mediation Center.
