The Embassy of Colombia presents the exhibition ‘Gold and the Universe’

Next Wednesday, May 27, at 12:00 PM, the Embassy of Colombia presents at Casa América the upcoming international exhibition that will be hosted by the Archaeological Museum of Alicante, The Gold and the Universe. Indigenous Knowledge of Colombia, from the Gold Museum of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia.

The president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Toni Pérez, along with the ambassador of Colombia, Eduardo Ávila Navarrete, will be responsible for presenting the exhibition, in an event that will feature the participation of the General Director of Culture of the Xunta de Galicia, Anxo Manuel Lorenzo Suárez; the director of the Gold Museum of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia, Alberto Escovar Wilson-White, and the curators of the exhibition Marcela García Sierra, museologist and anthropologist of the Gold Museum of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia, and Marcos Martinón-Torres, professor of Archaeological Sciences at the University of Cambridge.

Among others, the deputy of Culture of Alicante, Juan de Dios Navarro; the managing director of the CV MARQ Foundation, José Alberto Cortés, and the director of the MARQ, Manuel Olcina. will attend.

The exhibition is designed for the European public to explore the relationship of ancestral peoples with the cosmos: Gold and tumbaga pieces, representations of fauna, flora, and human figures, shamanic symbolism, objects that narrate transformation and spiritual power, ancient techniques, samples of the technological mastery of cultures such as the Muisca, Quimbaya, and Zenú.

This exhibition is part of the international touring strategy of the Gold Museum, similar to recent exhibitions like The Universe in Your Hands, which have been presented in Canada and Houston.
