The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, has applauded the agreement reached during the XXIX Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Education, held in Barcelona.

This agreement, included in the Barcelona Declaration, includes 15 points that advocate for the ethical use of artificial intelligence, the promotion of Vocational Training connected to employment, and the preparation of schools for emergencies.

The Conference, which took place on May 27 and 28, culminated in the approval of this important document that reaffirms the commitment of Ibero-American countries to inclusive, equitable, and quality education. According to Tolón, this agreement is crucial in a context of technological and social transformations, and seeks to strengthen cooperation among nations to face common challenges.

Among the highlighted points of the declaration, the promotion of a future Ibero-American Education Strategy is mentioned, in collaboration with the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB). Additionally, a commitment is established to ensure the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in education, as well as to improve the resilience of educational systems in the face of crises such as climate or health emergencies.
