Tomorrow Tuesday at 5 PM, Casa América and the EFE agency present in the Simón Bolívar Room their next EFE Forum with Fernanda Cardona, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Uruguay.
After some welcoming words from León de la Torre, General Director of Casa de América, Fernanda Cardona will be interviewed by Emilia Pérez, Director of International Affairs of the EFE Agency.
Fernanda Cardona (Montevideo, 1977) holds a PhD in Law and Social Sciences, specializing in public regulation, labor law, and strategic sectors of the State.
Among her previous positions, from 2020 to 2024 she was the Director of the National Administration of Electric Plants and Transmissions (UTE) and from 2015 to 2020 she was appointed as General Director of the Secretariat of MIEM, the highest administrative authority of the Ministry, coordinating budget execution, the corporate legal framework, and the articulation between the national directorates of Energy, Industry, Telecommunications, and Mining.
In March 2025, she was appointed by the President of the Republic, Yamandú Orsi, to lead the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), one of the key portfolios for economic development, productive transformation, and the energy transition of the country. Committed to public management and social development and inclusion, she combines her political responsibility with her family life.
