In the context of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Ambassador Michalis Ioannou attended the inauguration of the exhibition The Cyprus that Domingo Badía and Leblich (Ali Bey) saw, dedicated to the journey that the famous explorer made to Cyprus in 1806.

The exhibition will be displayed in the Exhibition Rooms of Casa de Zafra in Granada (calle Portería de la Concepción, 8) until June 30th.

The event was organized by the Center for Byzantine, Modern Greek and Cypriot Studies at the University of Granada, under the direction of its president, Professor Moschos Morfakides, honorary consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Granada.

The evening featured institutional interventions and the presence of the Ambassador of Greece, Apostolos Baltas.

Ali Bey was deeply impressed by the Cypriot island, its landscapes and culture, leaving a valuable legacy of manuscripts and engravings of great historical and artistic importance.

The guitarist Mariano Gil and the soprano Vivianna Giannaki, well-known to the Diplomatic Corps in Spain

The event concluded with a musical program by the duo formed by Mariano Gil and the soprano Vivianna Giannaki, which included, among other pieces, traditional Cypriot songs, offering a magnificent closing to a night dedicated to dialogue between cultures through art and history.
