The Ministry of Finance has announced the budget execution data of the Public Administrations for March 2026, revealing a positive trend in public accounts. The consolidated deficit of the Central Administration, the Autonomous Communities, and the Social Security Funds has been located at 4.310 million euros, which represents 0.24% of GDP.
This figure marks a notable decrease of 31.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, when the deficit reached 6.260 million euros. In terms of the Central Administration, the deficit has been situated at 4.133 million, which is equivalent to 0.23% of GDP, while the deficit of the State specifically has been 3.008 million, or 0.17% of GDP. The Autonomous Communities have also shown a significant improvement, with a deficit of 3.506 million, equivalent to 0.20% of GDP, representing a reduction of 36.1% compared to the same period in 2025.
The increase in the non-financial resources of the State, which reach 101.798 million, 7.8% more than the previous year, has been key to this improvement. Taxes have experienced a growth of 8.3%, with a notable increase in VAT collection. This context of improvement has been driven by various fiscal measures, including reductions in the VAT rate for energy products, which have allowed the Government to manage its budget deficit more effectively.
