The Legatum Hungariae Foundation and the Hungarian Civil Network delivered a historic Italian violin built in 1886 by the luthier Emidio Celani to the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid on Monday, June 1.

The instrument has been made available to the young Ukrainian violinist Alfred Artemyev, a student of the Telefónica Violin Chair of the master Zakhar Bron, for his artistic and academic use during his studies at the institution.

The event was attended by Jorge de Habsburgo, ambassador of Hungary, whose participation helped enhance the institutional character of the initiative.

In addition, Julia Sánchez Abel, CEO of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía; Juan Alonso Mendoza Velandia, artistic director of the institution; Attila Ökrös, Hungarian violinist and representative of the Legatum Hungariae Foundation; Alfred Artemyev; as well as representatives of the Hungarian community in Spain participated.

The initiative is an example of European cultural cooperation, bringing together a historic Italian instrument, a young Ukrainian talent, an internationally recognized Spanish institution, and an initiative driven by Hungarian civil society with the aim of supporting the training of new generations of musicians and strengthening cultural ties between European peoples.
