The diplomat Peter Huber will be the next ambassador of Austria to Spain, replacing Enno Drofenik, who is finishing his mission in Spain at the end of July and whose next destination will be the Austrian Embassy in Belgrade.

Since 2017, Huber has been the ambassador of Austria in Germany. It happens that he was previously the ambassador in Spain since January 2014, when he presented his Letters of Credence to King Juan Carlos I.

Huber was born in 1967 in Kitzbühel (Tyrol) and holds a doctorate in law. Prior to his appointment to the Embassy in Madrid, he held the position of director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State of the Ministry of European and International Affairs of Austria, Reinhold Lopatka, for more than a year.

Throughout his diplomatic career, he has also been assigned in two different periods (1997 and 1999-2002) to the Permanent Representation of Austria to the United Nations and to the Austrian Embassy in Paris (2002-2005).
