King Felipe VI presided over the closing ceremony of the XXVII General Staff Course of the Armed Forces this afternoon, an event that marks the end of the academic year at the Higher School of the Armed Forces, located at CESEDEN.

Accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, the king highlighted the importance of this military qualification, considered the most demanding within the Spanish Armed Forces.

Margarita Robles, who also spoke during the event, praised the 142 new graduates, of which 113 are Spanish and 29 come from 21 allied countries. “They are the best representation of the Armed Forces of Spain, modern and committed,” said the minister, who emphasized the relevance of these new officers as “ambassadors” of the nation in the international arena.

The new General Staff officers will perform crucial functions in strategic advising and operational planning in their future postings, both in joint operational structures and in missions abroad. To obtain their diploma, they have completed a rigorous curriculum that is taught alongside the Master’s in Defense Policy and International Security at the Complutense University of Madrid, a training that prepares them for the challenges of command and decision-making in the military field.
