After four years in Spain as the ambassador of Germany, Maria Margarete Gosse hosted a reception last week in the garden of the official residence on the occasion of her upcoming farewell as the head of German diplomacy in Spain.

The event was a very special moment given the close relationship that the ambassador has maintained throughout her stay in Madrid. She also took the opportunity to officially say goodbye to some of her closest collaborators, those who are now starting their diplomatic work in new destinations, and to welcome other colleagues who are beginning a new professional stage at the German Embassy in Madrid.

During the wonderful evening, the traditional flavors of German cuisine and toasts to Spanish-German friendship were not lacking.

This farewell party does not mean the professional goodbye of Ambassador Gosse in Spain, who will still remain in Madrid for a few weeks fulfilling her professional commitments and strengthening the solid and trusting relationship between Spain and Germany. Her next professional destination will be Mexico.

Before arriving in Spain, Maria Margarete Gosse already had extensive diplomatic experience, which took her to different countries, including France, where she was consul in Paris, and held other positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as delegate for the area of Law and Consular Affairs. Likewise, the German ambassador was assigned to Spain at the beginning of her career as a diplomat, in the 1990s, holding the position of deputy consul in Barcelona.
