This summer, international tourists visiting Spain will spend 10% more than in the same period of 2025. According to the statistical projection prepared by the Institute of Tourism of Spain (Turespaña), dependent on the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, around 43 million foreign tourists will visit us between the months of June, July, August, and September, 6% more than last year, who will spend nearly 64 billion euros.
The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, who announced these forecasts at a press conference at the Ministry’s headquarters, highlighted the extraordinary resilience of the Spanish tourism industry amid an uncertain global geoeconomic context marked by the consequences of commercial instability resulting from the war crisis in the Middle East. Despite the still unresolved international crisis, the comprehensive transformation process of the tourism model has not been affected, the minister pointed out.
All the variables describing the health of tourism experienced positive behavior in the first five months of the year. Until May, the last month with official figures, spending by international tourists grew by 7.8%, reaching 50.2 billion euros, and visitors increased by 5%, surpassing 36 million.
Regarding employment, a paradigm shift has occurred in Spain, as tourism affiliation is at its peak, with more than 3 million workers employed in the sector and a temporary rate lower than that of the rest of the economy.
