The ambassador of the Dominican Republic, Tony Raful, welcomed the Dominican vice president, Raquel Peña, yesterday in Madrid on the occasion of her official visit to Spain.

According to the Embassy’s social media, between yesterday and today (which concludes the short visit of the vice president – who also chairs the Investment Promotion Cabinet -) she will develop a work agenda aimed at strengthening economic and institutional ties between the Dominican Republic and Spain. She is accompanied by the Dominican Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings and founder and president of the Center for Public Policy Analysis (CAPP), Víctor “Ito” Bisonó.

Among the planned activities is a meeting with representatives of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), with the aim of identifying new investment opportunities, promoting trade exchange, and expanding cooperation between companies from both countries in strategic sectors for development.

Vice President Peña will lead these meetings following the results obtained during the American Investment Forum 2026, a platform that allowed the presentation of the competitive advantages of the Dominican Republic to potential investors and reaffirmed international confidence in economic stability, the business climate, and the investment promotion policies driven by the Government.

As part of this official mission, Raquel Peña will also participate in the first Libertas Forum, a dialogue space that will bring together leaders from Europe and Ibero-America to discuss the main challenges facing contemporary democracies, the strengthening of the rule of law, the protection of fundamental rights, and the promotion of economic well-being as a basis for the development of nations. It will be within the framework of this forum that the vice president will share experiences on the public policies implemented by the Dominican Republic to promote economic growth, institutional stability, and collaboration between the State and the private sector as engines of development.

Furthermore, during her stay in Madrid, the Dominican vice president will hold a meeting with the directors of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and meetings with representatives from the political and cultural spheres, with the aim of consolidating strategic relationships.

Finally, the Dominican Embassy emphasizes that “the visit reaffirms the commitment of the Dominican Republic to strengthening the bilateral relationship with Spain and to promoting alliances that contribute to economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.”
