Naturgy has reorganized the management structure of its networks business in Latin America with the creation of a new regional coordination function. The decision coincides with a key stage for the company, marked by the renewal of several concessions and the growing weight of distribution activities within its investment and growth plans.

The company has appointed Javier Fernández González for this new responsibility, who until now was the top executive of its business in Chile. The executive will coordinate the various Latin American network markets and will report directly to Pedro Larrea, global director of Networks at Naturgy.

Fernández González, a graduate in Business Administration and Management with a master’s degree in Financial Analysis from Carlos III University of Madrid, has more than two decades of experience at Naturgy, much of it linked to Latin America. Before taking over the management of the business in Chile, he held executive positions in Mexico and Colombia, especially in areas related to planning, regulation, and business development.

In parallel, Marcos Cvjetkovic takes over the management of the Chilean business. His incorporation is part of the renewal of the management team of Networks in Latin America, which has also led Katia Brito Repsold to take on the responsibility of the business in Brazil, Sebastián Pérez Henríquez in Panama, Alejandro Peon Peralta in Mexico, and Gerardo Néstor Gómez in Argentina.

Naturgy is the largest gas distributor in Latin America and serves more than 5.8 million gas customers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. Additionally, it distributes electricity to around 1.1 million customers in Argentina and Panama. The gas and electricity distribution networks occupy a central place in its Strategic Plan 2025-2027, which aims to allocate a significant portion of investments to regulated and renewable infrastructures. The company plans to modernize these networks to respond to the growth of energy demand, advance in their digitalization, and incorporate new renewable gases.

Beyond the organizational changes, the company faces an important regulatory calendar in the coming years. In Brazil, some of its main gas distribution concessions are entering renewal phases that could extend their validity for several more decades. In Argentina, the modification of the legal framework approved in 2024 extended the renewal period of certain licenses from ten to twenty years, allowing Naturgy to initiate procedures to ensure the continuity of its operations. In Mexico, there are also concessions that will have to undergo extension or review processes in the coming years.

The new structure will allow for the coordination of operations that face significant regulatory renewal processes and new investment needs in various Latin American markets from a single regional management.
