The ambassador of Cuba, Marcelino Medina, delivered the Medals of Friendship, a distinction awarded by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, in recognition of the paths marked by commitment and solidarity with Cuba.

On the occasion of the commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz, the decorations were awarded to Ángel García Seoane, mayor of Oleiros; Juan Luis Vallina, from the Peace and Friendship Association of Avilés; and Gustavo Luca de Tena, from the Galician-Cuban Friendship Association «Francisco Villamil», whose medal was received on his behalf by Irene del Río.

In his words, Ambassador Marcelino Medina specifically highlighted those who have contributed for years to preserving and strengthening “the friendship and cooperation between our peoples.” He also emphasized that friendship is built “with will, perseverance, and concrete actions.”

The day also served to pay a special tribute to the memory of Carlos López, honorary president of the Láncara-Cuba Friendship Association, whom Marcelino Medina remembered as a “great and faithful friend of Cuba.” For years he promoted the development of the Ángel Castro House Museum and contributed to strengthening the relations of friendship and solidarity with Cuba.
