Exhibition ‘The Charm of Illusion. A Bridge Between Reality and Perception’

Exposición Ilusión

The cultural space CentroCentro (Plaza de Cibeles, 1) hosts on the 4th floor until October 11 the exhibition The Charm of Illusion. A Bridge Between Reality and Perception, which is part of the X Biennial of Contemporary Art of Fundación ONCE.

The exhibition brings together more than 30 artists from diverse backgrounds, with and without disabilities, reaffirming the role of Fundación ONCE as a driver of cultural inclusion. Works like ILLUSION, by BoaMistura -created together with employees of Fundación ONCE- (in the photo), symbolize the community spirit of this edition, while pieces like Look, by Daniel Canogar, or the works of Cristina García Rodero, Joan Fontcuberta, Carlos Garaicoa, Marina Vargas and Isidro López Aparicio open dialogues about memory, truth, and representation.

This exhibition represents a celebration of two decades of commitment to creation, accessibility, and inclusion. In this edition, the thematic axis is illusion, which becomes the thread that connects a reflection on how we perceive, construct, and transform reality through art.

The X Biennial of Contemporary Art of Fundación ONCE also incorporates a core of artists linked to Under the Hat (a platform for artistic creation, methodological research, and promotion of artist careers, aimed at people with intellectual disabilities) and other inclusive creation projects, as well as creators who have participated in previous biennial editions. Their proposals -from the graphic universes of Jaime Martínez Alonso to the metamorphoses of José Manuel Egea or the textile sensitivity of Marina Solana- show how illusion allows us to inhabit reality, organize experience, and build our own worlds from aesthetic and functional diversity.
