Estreno en el Teatro Bellas Artes de la comedia ‘Pero no se lo digas’

The actors Agustín Jiménez, Sara Escudero, and César Camino star in the comedy Pero no se lo digas (But Don’t Tell Him), written by Ferrán González and directed by Borja Rodríguez, which premiered on June 15 at the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Three friends, who believe they are friends and that friendship gives them the right, when necessary, to abuse it, find themselves immersed in a crazy night in But Don’t Tell Him, a hilarious and excessive comedy. Nothing is as it seems. Apparently, the situation is everyday: a man whose girlfriend has left him goes to dinner with a couple of friends. And from there, Borja Rodríguez explains, “a very wild, very brutal, and very intelligent idea is triggered.”

The three characters are around 40 years old and have been close friends for two decades. When the dinner seems to serve to console and support the abandoned friend, the unexpected happens. At a moment when the married friend goes down to buy something, the wife confesses to the other about the crazy life she suffers with her husband, a result of lack of communication, boredom, and the lifestyle they lead, in which they see their own derailing. Upon returning home, the husband finds his wife unconscious on the floor. From there, the pace of the comedy accelerates, carried along by a sharp, absurd text full of comedy and freshness.

The intelligent humor of But Don’t Tell Him activates the mechanisms of excess, absurdity, and drives the plot through various genres within comedy. The audience will ride a roller coaster of surprises. But everything has an explanation. The problem is that on top of that explanation, there is another one that is much more absurd, more ingenious.
