The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration announced yesterday the deployment of four new humanitarian assistance centers in Ceuta, following the meeting between Minister Elma Saiz and the president of the city, Juan Jesús Vivas, with the aim of improving care for migrants in the region.
The new locations include the parking lot of Embolsamiento in Loma Colmenar, the Facilities of La Hípica, the Old Football Field of the Cavalry Barracks, and the Guano space. The habilitation of these facilities will begin immediately, with an initial capacity of 1,500 new places to accommodate people in vulnerable situations.
Minister Saiz highlighted the importance of joint work with social entities and local associations to address this humanitarian crisis. In addition, she emphasized the role of the Red Cross, which has been providing essential assistance since August 3, distributing nearly 4,000 daily food kits and providing socio-healthcare to more than 4,000 people in the city.
For her part, the Minister of Health, Mónica García, visited Ceuta to assess the health situation. The minister met with the Government delegate in Ceuta, Miguel Ángel Pérez, and the director of the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA), Isabel Muñoz, in addition to holding a meeting with the president of the Autonomous City, Juan Jesús Vivas.
In a press conference, the minister highlighted that, despite the pressure on healthcare, there has been no collapse in the healthcare system, which has maintained ordinary healthcare without affecting the rest of the population. García said that the current situation is not a health crisis, but a humanitarian crisis that carries a significant health risk.
