Kits humanitarios para el Líbano

Ayuda humanitaria para el Líbano ante la crisis creciente.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has carried out the delivery of humanitarian aid to Lebanon. Through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), a total of 33,050 essential kits have been sent, with an investment of 519,795.61 euros.

This action seeks to respond to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the country, exacerbated by the recent escalation of violence in the Middle East, which has led to a significant increase in forced displacement of people and growing protection needs.

The aid is intended to cover the basic needs of approximately 54,370 people who are in vulnerable situations. According to data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, it is estimated that around 1.3 million people in Lebanon require urgent assistance. Among the supplies sent, there are 30,800 hygiene kits, designed to cater to different profiles, as well as 2,250 cooking kits, which will facilitate minimum conditions for food preparation in displacement contexts.

This operation is carried out through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response. The materials will be transported from Spain by sea, departing from Valencia in two shipments scheduled for early May, and are expected to arrive in Beirut by the end of the month. Additionally, a second shipment of cooking kits is planned through an international humanitarian corridor coordinated by Jordan, which will allow for a more agile delivery in the region. This action is part of the commitment of Spanish Cooperation to humanitarian aid, focusing on saving lives and protecting the dignity of people affected by crises and conflicts.
