The Government of Spain has reaffirmed its commitment to European security, the defense of democratic values, and the promotion of strategic infrastructures during the Three Seas Summit, which took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

The Spanish delegation, led by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, emphasized the importance of consolidating the north-south axis in Europe, especially in the current context marked by the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the challenges to the international rules-based order.

During his speech in the plenary session, Hereu emphasized that democracy, peace, and stability are fundamental for European prosperity. He called on the participating countries to strengthen long-term cooperation, avoiding temporary solutions to contemporary challenges. He also highlighted Spain’s role in European collective security, leading the multinational NATO group in Slovakia and participating in air missions in the Baltic countries.

In the technological field, during the round table titled “Tech Infrastructure of the Future”, Hereu emphasized that Europe’s future competitiveness depends on connectivity, both physical and digital. He advocated for a European digital autonomy, highlighting the need for own infrastructures and cooperation among states. He also referred to the progress made with the Spain Digital Strategy 2026 and Spain’s willingness to act as a strategic partner in the Three Seas Initiative, providing its expertise in key areas such as transport, energy, and digital technologies.
