On April 28, 2026, the Minister of Defense of Spain accompanied His Majesty the King on a visit to the Naval Aviation Flotilla (FLOAN), located at the Naval Base of Rota, Cádiz.
This flotilla includes the participation of more than 660 military personnel distributed across seven squadrons, which include fixed-wing, rotary, and unmanned capabilities.
The FLOAN is distinguished by its advanced technology and high operational capacity, making it an essential resource for surveillance, defense, and logistical support missions, both nationally and in international scenarios. Its role is crucial in joint operations with organizations such as NATO, where it helps to strengthen collective security.
During the visit, King Felipe VI and Minister Margarita Robles observed the training of pilots in emergency situations and aircraft accidents. Additionally, the Naval Survival Center (CESUPAR) was presented, globally recognized for its training in survival at sea. The Internal Security Training Center (CASI) was also highlighted, which offers emergency simulations on ships and aircraft, establishing itself as a benchmark in the training of military and civilian personnel.
