It is a true honor for me to address the readers of Diplomacy News and express my sincere gratitude for this valuable opportunity, which offers an excellent platform to highlight the cooperation and friendship between the Kingdom of Spain and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In a world shaped by rapid geopolitical and economic changes, relationships founded on mutual trust, respect, and a shared vision are more important than ever. Jordan and Spain represent an outstanding example of this reality. Over the decades, our two countries have built a strong relationship based on common values, political cooperation, and deep cultural understanding.

Today, this historic friendship is entering a new chapter. The recent Strategic Partnership signed between Jordan and Spain marks a significant milestone that elevates our bilateral relations to the highest level and opens new avenues of cooperation in political, economic, commercial, cultural, and scientific fields. This partnership reflects the determination of both countries to work together in addressing common challenges and building a future of shared prosperity.

Jordan is known worldwide as a land of history, hospitality, and coexistence. From the majestic Nabataean city of Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, to the breathtaking landscapes of Wadi Rum, the therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea, and the sacred sites associated with the three monotheistic religions, our country offers unique experiences that leave a lasting impression on every visitor.

Tourism remains one of the main pillars of Jordan’s economy, and we continue to diversify our tourism offerings, promote sustainable tourism, and develop new products that meet the expectations of international travellers. Spain holds a special place within this strategy. Jordan’s participation in FITUR 2026 in Madrid significantly strengthened ties with the Spanish tourism sector, creating new opportunities for cooperation and bringing our peoples even closer together. The twinning agreement between Jordan’s “Camino de Egeria” route and Spain’s historic Camino de Santiago perfectly symbolizes the richness of our shared heritage and the tremendous potential for cooperation in cultural and religious tourism.

Beyond tourism, Jordan has established itself as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the Middle East. Our strategic location at the heart of the region provides privileged access to markets comprising more than one billion consumers. We offer an open economy, a highly skilled workforce, a modern legal framework, and continuously developing infrastructure.

The Kingdom has implemented important economic reforms aimed at facilitating foreign investment, fostering innovation, and strengthening strategic sectors such as renewable energy, information technology, pharmaceuticals, logistics, education, and healthcare. These sectors offer significant opportunities for Spanish companies seeking to expand their international presence and participate in high-growth projects.

Spain, for its part, is one of Europe’s most dynamic economies and a global leader in tourism, infrastructure, renewable energy, and water management. Spanish expertise in these areas perfectly complements Jordan’s development priorities, creating a solid foundation for expanding bilateral investments and promoting innovative business partnerships.

Relations between Jordan and Spain extend well beyond economic exchanges. We also share a common vision in support of peace, dialogue, and international cooperation. Both countries firmly believe in the importance of multilateralism and actively work to promote regional stability, intercultural understanding, and sustainable development.

Frequent high-level political coordination reflects the mutual trust that exists between our countries and the shared desire to further expand cooperation for the benefit of our societies.

His Majesty King Abdullah II, alongside His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, has shown an unwavering dedication to shaping a modern, forward-looking, and resilient Jordan. Guided by visionary leadership and a profound commitment to the well-being of their people, they have championed reforms aimed at strengthening state institutions, fostering sustainable economic growth, and creating opportunities for future generations.

Beyond domestic progress, Jordan’s leadership has consistently played a vital role in promoting peace, stability, and constructive dialogue at both the regional and international levels. Through an approach grounded in moderation, cooperation, and mutual respect, Jordan continues to serve as a bridge for understanding and coexistence in an increasingly complex world.

Looking ahead, I see tremendous opportunities to deepen our collaboration. The growth of trade exchanges, increased investments, academic and scientific cooperation, joint innovation projects, and tourism development all represent areas of extraordinary potential.

I invite Spanish business leaders, investors, tourism operators, academic institutions, and citizens to discover Jordan: a modern, stable, and welcoming country where tradition and innovation coexist harmoniously. Jordan is not merely a destination; it is an experience, a living story, and a gateway to a region full of opportunities.

I am confident that the friendship between Jordan and Spain will continue to grow stronger in the years ahead, driven by our shared values and our common determination to build a more prosperous, sustainable, and peaceful future for generations to come.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Diplomacy News. I would like to emphasize Jordan’s deep commitment to international cooperation, friendship among peoples, and the continued strengthening of our relations with Spain.
