The main event, the Night of Power and Women’s Culture, will take place on March 13 at the Taipei Office in New York.

Under the motto ‘Her rights, our pride’, Taiwan celebrates from March 9 to 19 in New York — coinciding with the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women — Gender Equality Week, driven by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Women’s Rights.

According to the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei in Spain, “as a pioneering country in Asia in gender equality and in line with this year’s session theme —Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls—, Taiwan celebrates various activities during Gender Equality Week focused on the efforts made over the years to advance and promote gender equality, showcasing its achievements in this area to the world, as well as its strong institutional capacity and cultural resilience.”

The main event, the Night of Power and Women’s Culture of Taiwan, will take place on March 13 at the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei in New York, featuring a jazz performance by renowned Taiwanese marimbist and composer Su Yu-han and a collaborative orchid exhibition.

“The event,” adds the statement, “will explore the theme of justice and distinguished speakers will be invited to share Taiwan’s judicial reforms, policies, and institutional achievements within the framework of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.” The evening can be followed live through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Another highlighted event is the Taiwan Forum—Resilient Leadership, Inclusive Futures: Women Forging Transformative Paths to Equality on March 12 in New York, focused on how women leaders in Taiwan and around the world are redefining leadership norms in the public, legal, and economic spheres, where experiences of women leaders in driving institutional innovation, strengthening governance resilience, and advancing inclusive participation will be shared. Additionally, more than 60 representatives from 40 local governments and Taiwanese NGOs will organize over 30 parallel events during the CSW to showcase practical experiences and achievements of Taiwan in promoting gender equality and empowering women.
